In October 1935, the Molsheim factory sold to a happy customer – as all customers of that brand were – its last Bugatti 51. His name was Francisco Ribeiro Ferreira, he was Portuguese, and the Type 51, which was delivered to him in Elvas, at the border, "raced" on the national roads to Lisbon to be legalized and made its debut with a victory at the Estoril Circuit.
